Driver side turnsignal bulb replacement
Hey guys,
On my 99 ls400 I'm trying to replace the turn signal bulb on driver's side.
I did some searches here but no luck.
I might be able to access through bottom after removing splash guard?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
cat

Front turn signal? You remove the one retaining screw you see when you open the hood and then CAREFULLY pry the lamp housing away from the body. I grab the front lens edge with my fingertips to spread the force and pull the housing away from the body - it will "pop" off. These things get fragile as they age and are easily broken as a body shop worker found out a few weeks ago when he removed the left front turn signal on my 00 LS. I wouldn't recommend using a tool to pry the housing off but if you have to I would suggest using a wide metal scraper/putty knife with it's blade covered with electrical tape to open up a gap big enough to get your fingertips in.

Search mode must be down just now. I've also tried to search and get nothing.... but there are lots of posts on the subject. Was trying to get one for you. Access is from the top, not bottom. Be careful after removing the one screw you will remove. There are plastic tabs which can break off if removal is not done correctly. Try search a little later.

The tough part of removing the turn signal housing on a 98-00 LS and the similarly located marker light housing on a 90-97 LS is getting the little metal post (indicated by the arrow in the attached photo) to "pop" out of the retainer hole it fits in. The retainer hole, for lack of a better term, seems sort of "spring loaded", seizes up after a number of years and does not want to release the metal post.
When you finally get it out, it might be good to lube the retainer hole with silicon spray or a light grease.

Well, I finally got the turn signal unit out by prying at the bottom between the headlight with a thin tork handle. The two side tab guides broke, so when I put everything back in the unit was a bit loose so I created a shim with a sliver of clear radiator hose.
Thanks for the links and pics.
