MERCEDES S-CLASS vs LEXUS LS430

Typical ignorant Mercedes supporter attitude. I never have problems with the Mercedes cars, just the arrogance and ignorance of some of the owners - the reason why I make the above post.
I have never even imply all Lexus are superior to Mercedes, and can understand why some people would choose a Mercedes over a Lexus. In fact, an SL may be my next weekend toy a few years from now, but I don't consider the SL500 an upgrade over the SC430. Each has its own advantages over the other despite the price difference. If I ever get an SL, it would be an AMG or a V12.(and after they have fixed as least some of their well documented quality problems they have now)

But the guy does have a point, the SC430 and the SL are kind of hard to put in the same class. The SC430 just doesn't have the sport image, unless it's been fixed up.

http://the SC430 and the SL are kind...been fixed up.
The SC430 is obviously designed to emphasize on luxury more than sports by design. Lexus could easily have tuned it to drive more like an IS than a LS had they wanted it to be sportier. This is more a matter of preference for its intended target of customers.
I personally bought the SC430 as a luxury car rather than a sports car. At the same price point of the SC430, I could have opted for BMW M3 or a Boxter S for all out handling and performances had I chose to.
At the price level of SL500 , the Porsche 911 Carrera is a better choice than the SL500 for all out sportiness. There is really no "Best" car for every body and what you pick depend on your preference of what is more important to you..
The SL500 has the edge in chassis, technology and handling (ABC)over the SC430, but pales in build quality, fit and finish, luxurious ambience, sound system, NAV, ergonomics and expected reliability compared to the SC430. I found both cars' styling attractive in its own way, and will be happy to drive both. Hence IMO the SC430 compares quite well to the SL500, except in the price you have to pay and the 3 point star on the hood.

Very true, the intended audience does play a role. But the SL500 does drive extremely nice like a luxuary crusier. It's the SL55 that designed with preformance and the SL600 which was designed as both!
On the build quality i find the SL500 to be extremely nice, and the fit and finish, same with the luxurious ambience. Sound system however is lacking unless you don't listen to rap like i do. And hte NAV sucks. Ergonomics are very nice, everything is within reach and such but the expected reliablity, well i guess we'll have to see on this one but i already know who won (Lexus!!)

Now digital_b, you're an idiot, because this thread's been dead for quite awhile, and you just made a baseless allegation with no factual inquiry to back that up. Aw, screw it, you're just an idiot, plain and simple. Of course with three posts, it seems likely you're a troll. You likely take the bus everywhere, but on the off chance that you do "own" a car, it's registered to mommy and daddy, and you get to sit in the driver's seat and make "vroom vroom" noises as you have no license. Either that, or you're a moron that can't even write at the level of a fith-grader. I suppose you won't understand a thing I'm saying until you grow a bit older.
As for the rest of ClubLexus, my apologies that a supposed "Mercedes" supporter would act in such an immature manner. Most of us Mercedes afficianados can, and do, have reasoned debates. Shall we conclude this debate by saying both the Mercedes and the Lexus are fantastic vehicles?

It's clear who is the idiot when one believes whatever car magazines' road tests tell you-they took the cars out for a joy ride on the track for a few hours, and judge every car as if it's mainly used for the track, and they never have to live with it. Many real issues with ownership experiences are ignored. Many owners have found out the hard way when they based their purchase on car magazines reviews. This is the last comment I''ll make on this outdated thread.
And thanks E55AMG for your unbiased comments and support.
