Greetings from Western Australia :)
Hello all
I have been lurking in the forums for a few weeks now and wanted to introduce myself. It is a 98 model LS400 with 183,000kms.
My good friend works for his dads mechanical workshop which specialises in Lexus / Toyota vehicles. I recently had all fluids replaced and rebuilt the power steering pump. Now everything is 100% mechanically, just need to do regular servicing and preventative maintenance.
I have just installed a UZZ30 diff with 3.91 gears. Makes a significant improvement to acceleration. Cruising revs at 100kmh has gone from 2000rpm to approx 2600rpm. The speedo didnt require correcting either. It is 2kmh out when my mate tested it in a I-phone speed calculator.
Next on the list is custom cat-back exhaust / intake, rims, coilovers then upgraded stereo as finances allow.
I am considering a Haltech Interceptor as well to tweak AFR's and ignition timing. I am sure it should be good for at least another 20 or so hp at the engine? If tuned to suit 93 ron premium fuel. Has anyone put a piggy-back ecu on a 1UZ VVTI with breathing mods for a decent power gain? Or is the factory ECU really efficient at recalibrating to suit decent quality fuel?
Cheers,
Gavin

Hello and welcome to Club Lexus, It's a nice city Perth.
As far as I know there are no aftermarket ECUs for the later LS400 models the earlier ones did have the MINES ECU option but they were expensive if you could source one from Japan.

welcome to CL.
some of the GS400 guys have had some success with piggybacks on the 98-00 VVTi 1UZ, and see gains of ~20-30hp at the wheels with a tune.
personally i've been hunting for a MKIV non turbo supra rear end, 3.76:1 gearing is a better compromise imho than the 3.91 of the soarer you picked up.
