This is what I was looking for to show you about the starter contacts and plunger. This car is a 2000 with 73K miles so just imagine how bad your contacts could be.

Hey Darrel, you should give python a job. I don't understand, now when I look it up on the Sewell site, starting from the home page, it comes right up. Eh, it's one of those unexplainable things, but at least ya got the info now and a price quote if it turns out that you do need it.

my objective here wasnt to prove anything other than i was an idiot for not replacing the knock sensors and connectors while replacing the starter..either way if u remove the intake to replace one,you should replace the other....thanks SEWELL for taking time to reply to this thread
good luck to the op!

Sorry for the delay, went on a weekend trip with the family, they are going to do all, starter everything and I will definately ask for my old parts, im hoping there going to give me an update today with were things are at, the guy working on the car assumes the issue lies in the connection alone, if thats the case should I still have them change both knock sensors?

If the knock sensors are good and it's in the wiring, personally, I would just fix the wiring. But, I do all my own work so tearing it apart again wouldn't bother me at all. I think, out of all the threads I've read in this forum over the past couple years, I've only heard of 1 or 2 knock sensors going bad. And at $190 each for OEM from the dealer is just outrageous. The starter is a good idea b/c they're known to go bad. But again, for me, I would just change the contacts and plunger on the starter. All parts for Lexus are expensive, that's why it's good to do what you can on the labor part. I used to bring my cars in just for some things I couldn't do. (not too much) But when I bought my Lexus I bought a manual for $200 and that has already paid for itself 10 times over.

Hey guys sorry for no posts in a while I have been working doubles the past few days, which im sure is a good thing anticipating my bill, they had the green light to do all, as I want it done correctly, I never heard from them today which makes me kind of nervous and I never had a pause in my day to check in, it was suppost to be done this afternoon but maybe it will be tomorrow morning. I will be sure to post some news as soon as I have some,
