Default Transmission mount

Greetings

96 LS, 250K

I just checked on ebay and there are 4 makes, and I never heard of any of them. Can anyone advise me if any of these stands better than the others?

Bremen Tech $133 w/ 2 engine mounts
APM $56
Westar $60
DEA Products $45/53

I got the OEM one from parts.com, about $40.

Ok good.

So I'm not sure what the vibration is - when in park and when I start the engine cold (when its idling high) I feel a vibration that seems to come from the engine. Sometimes I feel it when driving, when I hold it in low gear and around 2-3K RPM.

I'm gonna see if this mount cures it, otherwise next step I guess is the front 2 mounts? I can't see into them enough to tell if they are broken or bad.

Any tips welcomed here. They are all original mounts.

It is very easy to install the T mount, like 10 minutes. But do spend some time to figure out how the T mount works so that you understand which bolt to tighten first, which bolt to tighten last, before or after you lift the transmission, or after you lower the tranny.
I bought 3 mounts and I already installed the T mount.

Yeah that vibration sounds like it's your mounts. With that many miles I would do all 3. I'm sure you've seen the tutorials on how to change them all. It is very hard to see up in there but just looking at them wouldn't do anything anyway. Most mounts that people pulled out looked good while they were in but are actually snapped in half.

Considering that everyone's OEM transmission mount seems to have failed, I decided to try an aftermaket one just to see what happens. So far it cured the vibration so now I'm hoping it will last longer than the stock one did.

lol considering it's a $35 mount that works a hell of a lot better at isolating noise and vibration than most manufacturers, AND lasts ~100-150k miles, i think i'll stick to OEM

I'll be changing the trans mount in my '97 tomorrow. 157k and a very slight vibration has started lately in the driveline mainly accelerating through 55 to 65 mph. I will reply here with my experience.

I replaced the T mount 4 years ago at 150K miles with factory part. I replaced again this time at 210K miles. The new mount wiped out a lot of vibration of the car.

I just changed all 3 mounts after 267,000 miles and what a difference the car feels like silk, I don't have any more vibration and it is really quiet inside the car, the mounts looked like the ones above I used the factory mounts cost a little more but they really work. I waited to long to replace them and I also replaced the front lower arm bushings which were shot and the power steering damper feels like a new car.

Finally got a chance to put my car on a lift at work today. Once the trans was supported, it only took a few minutes to change out. My old mount came out in two pieces, the rubber was torn away from the lower part of the mount. Vibration is gone.

So let me understand this- you only need to support the transmission, not the engine, when doing this right?
