My windshield washer stock feels stiff and catchy when I actuate it in the once wipe position (pulling it towards me) in feels smooth in all other positions. I was thinking of spraying some wd40 in there. What do you guys think? Any one with similar problem?

My 93 is the exact same way, it feels like it will snap if I pull it towards me. I never even looked at it to try to fix it, I should have when I had the steering wheel and column off. I just deal with it. I just push the stalk down and up, same thing. Actually I think that's easier anyway.

I took my clamshells off to see what was the deal and fixed the problem. Seems a plastic peg slides in and out when the switch is actuated. Here are some pics as to how I fixed it.
First remove these two screws with a phillips (bottom clamshell)

Next turn steering weel 90° and remove screw shown

Next remove upper clam shell and then lower clam shell (you will have to pull the lower clam shell toward the steering wheel as you finese it out)
Next remove the two shinny screws that hold the rubber boot over the washer stalk (the one on the top left the other one is on the top right but I did not get it in the picture (sorry))

Next pull rubber boot back carefully and you will see a white plastic rod (you will only see the end of it) actuate the switch to the one whipe position and you will see the rod move in and out slightly.

Lubricate this with some good low odor grease (I used swimming pool gasket grease)
Also with a Q tip lubricate from back side and work it in by actuating the lever

Put everything back in reverse order.
Should work like when it was new. We shall see how long it lasts.
I suspect that the white rod is teflon impregnated plastic that has lost its lubricity.

Awesome sam, I'll have to try that if I ever take my steering wheel apart again. It does seem like a spot that would get dust in there and lose it's lubrication. I drive alot of dirt roads for work, doing construction. (when I do work) Nice pics too.

Much dirt in there after 18 years so I don't think it will be an issue. By the way it's still working smooth as silk
