How do you replace a "LH" camshaft oil seal, and crankshaft seal. on 98 Ls400.

How do you replace a "LH" camshaft oil seal, and crankshaft seal. on 98 Ls400.
I have read about many people saying they had done it or that it is a PITA. But I can't seem to find any directions. I have downloaded a shop manual and the move relevant section appears to be Removal of Cylinder Heads. Is there any other section in the shop manual that details.
A little background, I am changing the timing belt and water pump etc. I found more oil or grease under the timing belt covers and inside than I had hoped. I don't know if I am over reacting by thinking I should replace the crankshaft and LH camshaft seals. While removing timing belt and water pump I got coolant in many places and I when I took off the water pump the gasket was bad on the bottom. I'll include pictures and you can tell me.
Does any one had a link or tutorial about how to do this correctly. Is it really a PITA or are people just exaggerating it? How careful do you have to be with the vvt-i system.

The first four pics are not cleaned, the last pic I took some degreaser to it and wiped it good with towel. But you can still see under the LH camshaft the residue oil and grime.

I found this.......
YOU check it out....
you need to:
1. remove the oil feed on the union bolt to the vvti sprocket. (some oil will come out so be prepared).
2. remove the nut cover on the vvti gear via 14mm hex socket
3. remove intake side valve cover, and hold the camshaft w/ a wrench
4. while you hold the wrench, remove the vvti gear via 10mm hex socket
5. DO NOT TOUCH THE 5 HEX BOLTS AROUND THE VVTI GEAR. IF YOU DO TOUCH IT, YOU'RE GOING TO NEED A NEW VVTI GEAR.

And remember to get a service bolt to lock sub-gear on exhaust camshaft if not you will have trouble putting it back. Pull the bearing cap straight up so that you dont damage the oil control valve filter. All the bearing caps a marked make sure you put them back where they belong.
I have a question, why is the left side(bank 1) the bank with most problem? (cam seal, o2 sensor, valve cover gasket) My bank 2 seems to have no problems

I am finishing up the Camshaft oil seals for both LH and Rh. I am at the end of it I have one question. How much do I torque the valve cover bolts? When I took it off they were on very loosely. With out oil leaking too. I have searched in the shop manual but couldn't find it.

Thanks PD, you are doing a great job for us..... and we thank you for it.
FIPG (form in place gasket) is necessary as a sealer/gasket, but it cannot replace a seal, or seal up a seal.
we do not want to PATCH up our cars, just fix them as best as we can, and as cheap as we can...
