Speaker Replacements for 1990 LS?
I have a very nice 1 owner LS400. It has the Nak system in it, however a couple of the speakers are dead and the others are undoubtedly on their last leg. Since the car is so cherry, I want to keep it stock(ish). That is to say I don't want to hack up the enclosures, or fit bigger speaker.
I'm looking for some stock-sized speakers that will fit into the stock enclosures with minimal fuss.
Can someone recommend some stock sized speakers that will suit my needs for the front and rear?
Thanks alot!!

I just went through this. Bought a 4" set from Best Buy and they were crap. A friend sent me this link. I only regret not knowing before....

If ya don't want to have to do any modification for the speakers then you should order the stock speakers. (they sound good anyway) I started to do this http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/fspeaker.html but my new speakers were crap, so I got some other boxes from the JY, then I decided to stay with 4" and I still had to modify the back of the box b/c the magnet on the 4" speaker I bought was too deep.

LiCelsior, were the 4" Pioneers you bought Coaxial or Component? I'm facing the same dilemna here. I don't know if I want to buy used stock speakers, and I don't have a lot of cash on hand(just got a fine for selling smokes to minors). It seems Pioneer blows the other speakers away on bass and clarity at the store displays. Would you say they are on par with stock. I also don't know if my speakers are Nakamichi, since I don't have the factory head unit in my car.

You can check out Polk Audio's web site. They have a 5" speaker that fits into the 1st Gen's 4" enclosure without any modification. Use the figment guide on their site. I installed two of these in the front doors of my 91 LS. They fit right in with no problem and they sound great.
