Default Avg MPG vs MPG Since Refill?

Hey can anyone help clarify this topic for me? The manual doesn't do much to explain the difference between the two. Is Avg MPG lifetime? Since hitting reset? Does that make MPG Since Refill essentially the same as simply hitting the reset button? Which is a more accurate depiction of my actual MPG? I've got a 99 LS400.

there is no "mpg since refill" only miles since refill (which is self-explanatory).

there's "Average MPG" which is a running average from whenever you hit the reset button.
there's "Tank Average" which is the mpg since the gas tank was last filled (or added to, i believe).
there's "Range" which is again, self explanatory, but based on the current or last (i forget which) TANK mpg.
