why not just get them stripped and painted, WAY cheaper than chrome.

I considered stripping and painting mine but they're my winter set so I didn't feel the need. Sorry no pics since it's not cold enough yet up here...

This weekend though I plan to detail the car and will take better pics and post them up. Pretty much anything beats the stock wheels of the 99.
When u get a chance....goto the auto parts store and in the car wash supply section its a polish called BLUE MAGIC ALUMINIUM AND CHROME POLISH...this stuff is amazing...I've been using it for years. It brings the Chrome back like new and it protects for it happening again. When I bought my Ls back in July I noticed my grill had rust on it... I used my Blue magic and it looks brand new again. I've also used it on my old car and it had Chrome wheels on it and it brought the new look back....TRY IT AND U WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!
And if you can't find it look for BLUE MAGIC HEADLIGHT RESTORER, its the same stuff and use it for more than just headlights. It will work on ur wheels too. Let me know!!!

Once the plating begins flaking
The cost to get them dipped again is high so it is easier to find alternatives. Painted wheels make life easier since they can be stripped and sprayed easily. (Not talking rattle can.)

@rome99LS...once corrosion has set in, there is no product that will restore the chrome because the chrome is gone in those areas.

The same shop that quoted me $175 a wheel to re-chrome said it'd be the same amount to strip and paint the wheels. I would never go to them for either. Perhaps in the future I'll consider stripping and painting them. Or just finding an extra set of OEM silver wheels as spares. The corrosion really doesn't bother me enough to spend any substantial amount of cash on it.
