the ls400 has larger brakes than most cars of its size. sounds like the spokes of your wheels are hitting the calipers. you need to get wheel spacers. Posting the width offset wiil help but would be best to take it to a shop and have the shop check clearances. If you dont know the width or offset, take a wheel or two if they are staggered to a tire shop. they will get find them out. most likely smaller tires and a set of spacers.
Smaller wheels would be easier to work with

Can you post a pic of the car with the wheels on? Particular pics of the front wheels if open spokes to show the distance from the wheel to caliper. If the offset is really positive, it may be contacting the strut assembly.

It is like coming on here and saying I hear an ....erh sound.I see LS400 with 22 all the time with a rubber band tire.I don't think getting rubber band is the issue.I amy go the same route as you are, but I would find a quality shop to install 22s on my 1995.22s look nice on an LS, if only it is done right.

No offense OP but, you should just get rid of the 22's and get a nice set of 19's or 20's. I'm assuming you're at stock height so 22's IMO will look absolutely hideous. But its your car, you do what you want with it. Post the width and offset and a pic.

He hasn't checked in since 10-29, doesn't seem like we'll find out what the issue was.
