My friend's friend selling his 98 LS400, exact color as "TheDream"'s color ( hope you don't mind I borrow ur pic for a second )

but with Navigation inside. It has 110k+ miles so far, he did timing belt & water pump stuff. He's trying to sell it for $6500.

The cons : front bumper need some work, paint a bit cuffed here & there. One of the driver' side fog light is missing.

the price is $6500. He's 3rd owner. What do you guys think ? good deal or ok deal ? he won't go down on the price anymore.

-OR-

found another 1999 LS400 w/ white color. No navigation. 138k for $6000. No idea how the interior look like, i figure it's tan color. He did timing belt / water pump 35k miles ago. 4th owner
Its a very good price, not great. What does sound great is the mileage and if the TB was done recently grab it.

i actually found 96 LS400 timing belt done, grey on black leather, 130k for $4200 OBO. Personally i like the 98+ body style for VIP mods. but the good thing i guess if i buy that 96 LS400, i have left over fund to buy air bags / coilover
Wake up. How often do you actually think you use GPS anyway? Also, do you really think theres such a difference in a newer GPS that it will always be wrong? Once you get it you will love it.

The last GPS for the 98-00 LS400 was in 2004 and the data was from 2003. It will be wrong a LOT. The larger problem is that other functions are controlled through the GPS screen. The 98-00 GPS has a very low capacity and mainly covers larger cities. It's POI database is tiny compared to even the cheapest portable GPS available today.

How often a person uses GPS depends on the person. I use the portable GPS mounted on a bracket by the radio in my 00 LS400 almost every day. I used to think GPS was a bit silly until I had one ... allows me to focus on driving instead of a paper map.

The 98-00 GPS was considered really bad well before I bought my 2000 LS400 in 2003. When I asked someone to find a 2000 LS400 for me in 2003, the main things I asked for was exterior color white and NO GPS and NO AIR SUSPENSION.

Even back in 2003, I wouldn't have touched a 98-00 LS400 that had GPS. Friends that had the 98-00 GPS in LS/GS warned me and I'm glad they did.

my friend have 98 GS w/ GPS....man that thing is stone age. and he cant even do anything about it, the map is so outdated, i'm glad i don't take that 98 LS400 w/ nav, he cut down the price to $6300 now.

just an update, my wife surprised me w/ 06 GS430 last week during my lunch break. So I guess i wont looking for LS right now.

i dont know whats the craze when people are searching for cars.. they always want navi with the car. it's old, outdated, and crappier than your portable gps system. is it the screen in the radio area that makes the overall interior look nicer? i don't get it. as for me, i could really care at all. plus, the gps system for the LS' really suck from what ive been hearing.

the main concern here is the maintenance that has/has not been done. mileage matters, but if maintenance has always been kept up with, you have absolutely have nothing to worry about.

treat the car right and the car will treat you right in return.

edit: just saw your post about the '06 gs430... nice pickup (by your wife that is).
