Question 94 LS400 AC Compressor & Evaporator Installation Question

I'm having a used engine/transmission put in my car this week and the AC Compressor sounded like it was starting to whine, so I bought a new Denso AC Compressor/Clutch and Drier and asked the shop to install these with the engine replacement. Ive about spent my limit right now and could not afford to have them install a new Evaporator and Expansion Valve.
SO, the question is, will it hurt to have the new Compressor/Drier installed and system recharged (winter in DC and I wont be turning it on and using it now) and then wait until spring to have a new evaporator and expansion valve installed???? Have heard that contaminants could get into the new compressor if I dont install a new evaporator and expansion valve all at once, but if I dont plan on using the ac, will it still hurt it, or could I wait to have the Evap & Exp V installed later when I can better afford it?

ALSO, does anyone know if the Evaporator and Expantion Valve is a job I should have a shop professional do, or could I do this install myself? I am fairly mechanical and have read the clublexus install from another poster and it seems like something I could do in a couple of hours by removing the glove box and passenger kicker plate to get at both??? Think this is too hard of a job ?? Any recommendaitons ??? Thanks for the help guys. Tyndale Cobb

The drier/filter going to keep to keep the compressor clean. The evaporator, condenser, and the txv/expansion valve don't have nothing to do with keeping the compressor clean. When you change the compressor the drier is the only thing you should change if everything else ok. I never work on auto a/c ,but I know it's low pressure so it's probably not brazed you probably can use a wrench and it shouldn't be hard if you don't have to braze it
