Coil pack? rough start, smoke
Greetings,
99 LS, 87K
Started the LS yesterday and the engine felt like it was shaking as if running on 4 cylinders; it went away after a few seconds. Today same thing, so I turned it off and restarted it - resulting in just cranking for several seconds, no start. Tried again and it finally started, but piles of smoke out the back (just like a seafoam start). It cleared up after a few seconds and was running fine after that.
Is this a bad coil pack? Distributor? Definitely felt like a whole bank of cylinders. No engine light.
Many thanks for any advice

no coil pack in the '98+ cars, had COP ignition.
sounds like cam/crank sensor issue. any CEL?? I would surprised if there wasnt at least a pending code.
did you ever have the timing belt work done?
