1997 LS400 Rear Window Question
I was looking at a 1997 LS400 and noticed that both of the rear passenger windows go down at an angle and don't go all the way down into the door (see photo below). Is this normal for this model?
Cheers!

Definitely... will be taking pix tomorrow and will post tomorrow evening. It's a 1997 Coach Edition that I got to replace my '01 GS430 after someone hit it and insurance totaled it.

Ha, I don't know how many people have asked if my window was broken because of how it retracts. I had it at a car show once and some guy stood there and gawked at it for a good five minutes, seemingly mystified, before telling me he'd never seen anything like it.
If that photo is any indication, the interior looks to be in really good shape.

Yeah... the whole car is in pretty amazing condition considering the age & mileage (158,xxx)... I was definitely surprised that the interior has held up so well... don't know if it's because of the Coach leather or because the owner (it was a 1 owner car) just babied it... perhaps a little of both. I always loved the looks of this generation of LS... regretted not buying one after I got my GS (although that was a fantastic car... had over 220k on it when I got hit and still rode/drove as good as the day I bought it). Looking forward to putting a lot of miles and a few minor mods on this one.

It's sad that a beautiful car such as that can have such a design. I have always hated when the windows don't fully retract into the doors. And yes, I do understand why they can't. I just think it is a "tacky" design.

How do you know if the LS is a coach edition? My interior in my 99 looks very similar but grey. Sorry for my ignorance as I have had my vehicle for just about a month now.
There are a few shots of my interior in this thread. I definitely like your color better. Just lovely!

For the '97, Coach emblem on rear trunk lid, "Coach" embossed on each side of the leather of the center console arm rest, perforated seats wood trimmed gear selector ****, 5 spoke wheels which later were on the '98. I don't recollect there being a Coach for other years.
This paint option was also available for the Coach models:
Opal White, Cashmere Beige, Black Onyx, Moonstone Pearl and Silver Jade Metallic.
Coordinated interior colors are available in Ivory, Black or Cypress

I wonder if they incorporated some of the coach features in the later models? My leather stitching is different but I do have the 5 spoke wheels, wood trim shift ****, well kind of. It's missing the actual wood section... LOL. Right now I am using an aftermarket **** but do you know if it is possible to either buy a new one or have a new piece of wood put on the shif **** that matches the rest of the trim?
