Default Need help removing license plate lamp covers

I wanted to replace or at least clean the license plate lamp covers on my LS (see image below) but after removing the screws I can't figure out how to actually get the covers off of there and am afraid of breaking them. I've searched the forums and the web but can't find any good instructions on this. Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!
Kirk

The weather seal becomes sticky after a spell. Use a small flat head screwdriver and pry it up, gently. It will come off and if lucky the weather seal in one piece.

WARNING: you could/probably will damage it, make sure you have located a replacement.
in order to change the bulb, you do it from inside the trunk, with the lining removed, I done mine last month.

be careful.....

I did the exact same thing as you, as they were both burned out. I ended up getting the bulbs out from the backside/trunk. I think for sure the lenses would have broke.

Like others have said, it is possible to do it from the trunk side if the weatherseal has gotten tacky. But in case you want to try, there are 2 tabs, one on each side of the lens (right where the indentation is next to each screw in the pic above), that need to pushed with a small screw driver to pop the lens cover off.

Mine came off with little force even being a CDN car. Never removed any trunk lining to access them. I did replace with some superbrightLEDs which look clean....
