Magnefine 1/2" Inline Magnetic Trans Or Power Steering Filter
Hi, someone just gave me an Tran/PS filter.
Has anyone ever used one of these?
do they do a good job?
need to know before considering application.

IMO, these work well if the tranny of PS has had the opportunity to build up particulates and or is showing wear from metal that is being circulated. I would have a baseline fluid analysis performed prior to installing it so you know what it is or is not going to do in your situation.

I neglected to mention in the last post that I've used one on the ATX in my 2002 Sequoia since it was new. I discovered that the Magnefine filters are popular with RV''ers, and because I tow a boat that has my setup right at its maximum tow rating, I thought it couldn't hurt to use one too. Whenever I change a steering rack, I install one as SOP in the return line.

on these cars there's not much advantage in my opinion to using them on the trans lines as the trans pan has FOUR (some LS' may only have 3) magnets. FOUR!!!.
the PS though is a good idea if you're worried about it, the 2GS guys have been doing it for years and have a couple tutorials in their forum.
