I replaced my engine and tranny mounts around 9 months ago. Paid $176 for the engine mounts and around $50 for the tranny off ebay. I used a jack with some 2x4's on it to support the engine & tranny. Whole thing took me about 1.5 hours. Hardest part was getting the top bolts on/off the engine mounts.

Alright,
well it's pretty easy, I did the motor mounts today and it took me 55 min. so the dealer is making bank. I have a 94 LS400, the driver side was a little difficult but the passenger side only took like 15 min. what I didnt mention was the power steering hose that I broke, and the intake duck that I broke (while fixing the power steering hose), and the the hose that comes off the air duck and follows the radiator to the front/center of the engine, and diappears under all the plastic...but other than that it was easy LOL.
Have a great day.

Guys,

Basically these mounts if you are feeling any vibration at all as the engine revs up and down your mounts are probably bad..
Troubleshoot the easiest first.
Replace the tranny mount if it is torn/flattened... But it depende on your definition of 'Bad'.
A separated mount is one person's definiton... A torn/hardened mount is another's.. One that still holds the engine enought that you won't see it move much at all, like mine.. but it still vibrates and is more of an annoyance rather than a mech issue..

So basically if you feel any vibrations at around 1500K or so and drop down, you probably have torn moutns that if the vibs bother you replace, otherwise, keep driving... Also you'll notice more vibrations as the car is cold.. As it heats up, the rubber heats up and softens..In the wintertime if it is cold out, and you have torn mounts, you'll know it!

ANd Drifter is right, 'Not for the faint of heart" For $378 labor, I would almost think about just letting them do it.. But it's not too hard after you disconnect everything you need to disconnect to let hte engine go up.. IF you feel any resistance at all, you don't have everything disconnected and double check... Also had to lower cross member to get new mount in, but I started to jack engine up and it felt harder and harder, so I stopped.. Safer dropping 4 17 mm bolts than cracking and eGR or ex mani or something awful..LOL.

Yeah,
Just follow the www.lexusownersclub.com Glenmore post to a T.... I didn't have a 17mm stubby on-hand so I'm not sure you "Have to unbolt the compressor.. I did because I had to use anormal wrench, but if you had a stubby, you could work ok behind hte compressor..
