Default Planning on going badgeless....

I own a 2000 ls400, and i want to go with the badgeless look. I tried searching on my phone if there are any holes under the L, LS400 and LEXUS badge. But no luck. Any help on this?

yes, there are. if you want the shaved look you'll have to have the holes filled in with weld and then the entire trunk panel repainted.

^there are also holes in the center and driver's side.

afterwards you end up with this

If your bumper paint is good as is the roof, trunk lid and rear quarters, . Most the shops I talked to suggested a blend and feather of the whole rear section. Cost was just shy of $2K. Considering, I may as well shoot the whole car and be assured it would match front to rear. I didn't want signs of old vs. new paint. As good as some shops are, you will invariably find the old vs. new, depends how easy going you are. This is why I haven't removed mine, I'd have gone monotone as well. I'd also have shaved the radio antenna.

Funny thing i ordered a LS and 400 from sewell for my 92. The LS had two pegs for holes but the 400 had non just stick back. I ordered it for a 95 model. I will say the 400 is much better quality than the one i had from ebay. Cheap silver plated plastic. You can fell the difference.

But i have seen trunks for a 95 with the holes on the 400.

it depends on color and paint condition.

with black (and most other non pearl colors) it's simply a matter of cutting and polishing the adjacent paint to bring it back to life.

I removed my badges and wasn't sure of holes so i covered them with vinyl dots i stamped out with a whole punch. They have both wholes/posts and badge glue. The holes also have a round rubber grommet. From 1+ ft back you really cant tell

final

process

True. I ran the car by MOB and three other local shops. Same script from all of them. Beto's constantly comments how nice the paint is but he still said there was no guarantee. I'd prefer to have the whole car at the same starting point from a conservative approach. I'd thought, one just right moment seen in the sun and I'd think, "I should have spent the $2K more and done the whole thing."
