i scrotch brite the original door sill plate and applied black decal sticker on them.

some old aftermarkets were rumored to cause that problem, though I havent heard about any/many confirmed cases.

Says personal experience with them on both of the supra and the 2LS. I don't mind having aftermarket ones for the supra but I'd like to save up a pair of OEM hood struts for the 2LS.

Maybe you have good luck on yours but i'm sure not myself. I have replaced my hood struts on the supra a few times in the last 6 years that i owned it using aftermarket ones.

i sell aftermarket hood struts all day long...never had one problem. last week sold some for a 96 and this week sold a pair for a 99

i don't doubt you guys, and im not saying 1-1.5 year is a bad thing either. But i'd like for them to last at least 3 years. Which brand hood struts do you guys use? Which ones do you sell python?
