Tune up Info
Just got my 1st LS400.. It's Black with Tan Interior and has 111k on her. I looked up the service record and the last time she was @ Lexus was a Long time ago. It runs great passed inspection w/o any issues. No leaks Nothing to complain about. I aske dmy Mechanic and he was like " It's alot of labor with the LS400... That kind of worried me...
What's the average price to pay for:
Timing belt
Waterpump
Wires & Plugs..
What else am I missing?

Just drop mine off for the timing belt, water pump, tensioner pulleys replacement. The mechanic called back with a price just under $1,300 and asked if I still wanted to do it. He said about the same thing as yours, "a lot of labor for those LS's" and ballparked a tune up or starter at $600 a piece.

$1300 is decent if that comes will ALL parts and labor, including the caps/rotors and new plugs (tune up). i did mine and parts alone was close to $700 (all OEM even the fluids). it is very labor intensive but nothing too overbearing. you just need to keep track of all your parts.

The dealer will charge around $1500 for the t-belt/water pump job. Not including any tune up parts. Last time I did mine I spent less then $500 for parts and took me maybe 6 hours, not all actual work time. (Gotta take them breaks) The bigger price on the bill is the labor. That's why it's good to DIY if ya can. You didn't say what year it is. The T-belt is rated for 60k on pre 95 and 90k for 95 and up. Either way, I'd say it's due.
