Issues after driving through BIG PUDDLES?
Hi everyone. We had a big down pour Friday night and I drove throuh some very long and deep puddles. I have a 1997 LS400 with 247k miles btw. I am now noticing that it takes a few tries to get it started and wondering what this may be related to? I also noticed that when leaving the car running idly parked for long period of time that the heat temp indicator goes very high. When I drove away it went down? Any ideas?
Thanks all.
Mike

you could have ingested water into the engine, but that is only if the water was as high as the front grill emblem. i don't think the puddles were that deep were they?
as for your heat temp, it sounds like your fan is not working properly. as you drive away air is pushed through the radiator, cooling it. the fan suppose to keep air flow going while the car is stationary. it is controlled by a relay and switch. check if they are working properly. also check if the fan itself isn't seized (can turn freely).
