Gear Shifter Knob on 1992 LS

Gear Shifter **** on 1992 LS
Yeah, I didn't know what to call the actual product, but I mean the instrument in the middle of the console used to switch gears. My Lexus is a 1992, and I have noticed that on 1998s and newer, the shifter **** has wood accents, which, in my opinion, looks much classier. Does anyone know if I could buy one of these parts, and replace my boring shifter? I think it would make a great improvement on the interior.

I'm no expert, but I am pretty positive you can't use the shift **** you see in the 98+ cars for yours because you need that little button on the shifter because you don't have the zig-zag shifter plate thing to hold it in place. I put a 98 **** in my 96LS400 because it just screws right on and I don't need the button. You almost certainly need that "T" shaped shifter. I have seen those in wood at auto part stores but never the part leather/part wood type. Like I said for sure though, you can't use the 98+ shift ***** in the automatics that need the button because the shift **** you want doesn't have a button. Anyone feel free to correct me if I a wrong.

The first generation LS400's are limited on the different shift ***** because (unlike the 95-00 LS400's) of the "overdrive" buton. You cannot use the 95-00 LS400 shift *****. You can get your stocke shifter custom-wrapped with wood. There are a few aftermarket shifters suited for the first-gen LS's as well.
Levocs has a shifter that may require some modification to perfectly fit.
Here is a picture of the Levoc shifter (don't mind that the Celsior/LS400 in this picture is right-hand drive - the Levoc shifter works for either left-or-right hand drive vehicles):
There are some JDM shifters as well. DEVILS makes a wooden shift **** (left-hand drive) for the LS400's as well.
Hope that gives you an idea of what to work with.

The Levoc shifter is no good from what I heard, it will lock up on any gear, so you can accidentally bump is while the car is in motion and change the gears.
I am planning to get one from Japan from Devils.

I do not like the Levoc shifter so much either. Dunno bout the LS, but on the ES i have heard some say it does not fit exactly perfectly, while others have said it fits "ok" with difficult installation. Besides, the wood trim on the Levoc is off, compared to the rest of your wood....or maybe i'm nitpicking again.

I took the picture with the digital ixus camera from canon. 1600 x 1200 pixels. Later i did crop the picture to 1170 x 911 pixels (3197610 bytes).
It was my first picture to this forum; no problems.

OK Horta, now everyone wants this including me
You can not use 95 and up shifters due to the button on the side of the 1st gen shifter that unlocks it from the "P" gear position. The "Overdrive" button is the least of your consearns since you can put that button anywhere, it does not have to be the shifter. Levoc shifters look kinda out of place with all the bling they are designed with. Not classy at all.
