1990 Lexus ls400 engine temp gauge acting weird
Hey guys do u guys know what could be causing this before I start my car I put the key in the ignion . The temp needle on the dash is already half way and when I turn it on it just stays there even tho the car is cold ? Any help would be nice

temp sensor your looking for is left front passenger side of engine near the thermostat housing. pull the plug. then you should get no reading. change the sensor and see if it starts working right again. there cheap. easy to change.

Did that solve your issue?? Mine started that this weekend. Needle went to halfway mark and stayed there even after it was cold. It does move up a bit when driving but not much. I replaced the thermostat thought it was stuck closed because the lower rad hose was not warm but top is. After doing that the gauge did drop but not all the way down. Now its back up. I replaced the temp sensor last year.
So either its the sensor again or water pump??
It runs fine right now but i only taken it out on short hops around town.

Well I tried a different cluster no change. Changed thermostat no change. Changed temp gauge. Sensor and temp sensor for ecu. All no change needle just hangs around the middle all the time.
No running issues no codes. Could be ecu?
