Default Ls400 headlight auto on/off not working

On my 98 ls400, when I switch my headlight to auto it is not working like it suppose to be, i tried it when it's dark/night and my headlight remains off. Anyone have an idea what could it be? Do this year have that feature?

If you have the "Auto" position on the stalk switch you will have the feature, the sensor is on the top of the dash close to the windscreen make sure it is not obstructed or covered over.

First thing I would do is check your fuse boxes. Could be something as simple as a blown fuse. I went through and found a few blown in mine not long ago. Things started working that I forgot that I had. If this isn't the case, do like SkulCracka said and break out the multi meter.

the switch is the stalk itself. you need to make sure the ground it's triggering is still working properly (easier said than done). you need a wiring diagram to show where the harness goes to and what color wires are what. like Taffy said, check the fuses first.
