Well, I have to head back to RI tomorrow, and I'll look inside this computer one more time, but without a magnified glass, right now, the board looks llike new. I was hoping to find leaking capacitors, then I would of been confirmed of the problem. I will take computer with me, I am just thinking of sending it out just to make sure, maybe just have it upgraded to better capacitors at least. If they say it's bad, then I will know. Then i can just come back another time and plug the computer in and take car away......................but I am still fuzzy that it is the issue. Keep in mind, it never acted up, it doesn't run for a little bit and then die, it is completly dead. Cranks over fine, but like said, maybe a trickle of gas is getting in, it rumbbles a little but that's it. I have spark the whole time, and fuel is pouring out the line. Sorry, limited tools at the moment. I also have thought what Mcgyver would do, but, so far nothing.

oftem times the leaking, when it first begins, is on the underside of the capacitors, where it cannot be seen until the caps are removed - sometimes bad caps do not leak at all

however, when caps are the issue, most times the car still runs, just badly, or else the shifting is bad, or both - since your car is not running, then you likely have another issue.

you want to perform basic checks, such as having a fuel pressure tester hooked up, and after a cranking session, you need to pull ALL of the plugs to make sure all of them are getting spark and fuel (a pattern of some wet and some dry is very helpful info) and confirm that all plugs are getting fire

if all plugs are getting both fuel and fire, then the issue is most likely along the lines of bad crank sensor or cam sensors or the associated wiring to one of these three sensors is cut, or jumped time, or, as in a recent case I finally solved, a worn crank pulley.

'93 LS400, got the board back from 'circuit board medics', installed it and the car runs fine. No symptoms.
When idling, 150 rpm you can hardly hear it, on the road.
Hi-way:
2000 rpm 65 mph
2100 rpm 75 mph

I also ordered all the parts (caps) from 'digi-key' just in case.
Thanks to all the advice, especially Cowboy.

I did think Cam or Crank sensor, but wouldn't I have no spark, which I do. Plus, to suddenly go like that, anything can happen, but usally they act up first, maybe throw a code. But I am thinking all these possibilities. So far today I put computer back in, and i did the jump wire in the diagnostic test port, Fp to +B, and nothing, until battery now died. Will go out later, (in the cold) and jump it, and try some other things. Somehow I think the fuel pump ECU, which I suppose is in the trunk. If I can hot wire the fuel pump, if that's what it leads up to, then I can at least make the 6 hour drive home. I'm going to try an get one injector wire off, and check for pulse. All I have is a 194 bulb, (my little trick) to test this. I'm away from my tools, so have to resort to other things. So you know, I already replaced one coil, so if I had half spark, I know it would at least limp mode home. I went through the testing of the CKPS and CPS at that time, so Im familiar, and if anyone has that, I could use it, and try testing those as well. Also, Da, i can check codes without scanner, so i could do that as well, when battery is up to par. Last case scenerio.......crack a Beer and watch the game and forget about it for that time.

it is not healthy for the ECU and your electrical system to "jump" a car - always disconnect the battery before charging and avoid "jump starting" modern cars

just sayin!

PS - did you insert a wire and dump the codes as per my previous link?

the codes might have cleared, but should quickly come back at the next attempt at starting the car.

I hope they used the caps I specified from digi-key via the links in post#1, or the fix will not last!

I got code 15, ignition circuit 2. Now that throws me in a loop. So I'm out there, jumped the fuel pump, and at first it would just go click click when I unplugged and plugged back in. Then I unplugged the fuel pump ecu, (I think) and it had repairs done to the wire at one time. Then the fuel pump was wizzing away, I plugged the FPECU back in, and all is working except the car still wont start. So yea, just when I thought I might of had it.

I got code 15, ignition circuit 2
then the issue is not fuel - check for loose coil wires or igniter wires on passenger side coil and #2 igniter

Good Day All Especially LS Cowboy,
1995 LexusLS400 Very similar problem Start and DIE Start And DIE Discovered Timing belt was three teeth Advanced on Driver's side Cam .... No Codes but the "brain" of the car would not let it run with belt out of time ... As soon as I got in there and put it all right it fired right up and with the newly rebuilt ECU with all caps renewed by a specialist on Cowboys advice the Car now runs like a jewel.. The Timing belt is also not old but a very difficult starting problem in our cold weather in Central Oregon had caused a jump in the belt . All is great now Car runs better than it ever has since buying used in 2007. 159,000 miles and My wife likes it better than Anything they are selling new .... But she has never driven a new Lexus Ha! Ha! Just my Experience here working with LS Cowboy Recently . Also renewed the IAC Valve with New Bearings after getting a 1992 IAC with Repairable Bearings. Car now runs very smooth with no codes and All features work properly Thanks Again Cowboy

RUNNING!!! Found the plug on the #2 coil (1 on top) was loose cause of bad connection. I now have it tie strapped and out of the bracket for now and will fix when I get home. Runs like a champ but now my traction light is on and I have code 13 and 51. My only synopsis of that is that I screwed something up while I had the computer apart. Just my first thought. I looked over everything and found nothing out of place. Have battery unplugged for now to see if that will clear the ECU. Who knows? BTW uuum the #2 coil is brand new so I didn't think to check it til I saw that code. Good advise Cowboy! So the recap is - car runs great - no check engine light - just trac control light - headed home safely.......I hope with no trac control and now it's snowing - who needs traction?

Well made it home.........barely. So just before I got to RI, lost litterly half power. Now this is the same thing that happen when I lost the coil on the left side, (driver,) and back then I moved the good coil from the right, (up top,) so the left side is an old coil, and the right side is new, and that still had plenty of spark. So I guess only when the left side goes you have half power, and when the right one goes, you get nothing. Now I have not tested nothing yet, just going by my feelings. I will check it out after work. Driving my good O'l 85 Nissan pick up for now. So on the agenda.........I need to find some good coil wires so I can splice in better plugs, and also make them longer and relocate the left side one. Then keep a couple spares with me. Also, need to get a spare computer and send this out to get it gone through and upgraded to better components.

Hahahahahaha, I want to shoot myself.............the other coil is fine.....I undid the tie strap job on the other coil, just made sure all was straight.....and runs fine now. I NEED new coil connectors, or at least one for this one for now. Also, might as well finish the tune up and install new wires....that have the clips on the coil wire......mine broke off...........................and a new avatar, couldn't see the Lexus necklace too good. I'll miss her.
