Hello All... thanks for taking the time to look at my new thread.
This is my first post on this forum.
I just got a quote from Northern Kentucky's Lexus Rivercenter in Covington, KY for my 180,000 mile service on my 1998 Lexus LS400.
They said their labor rate is $105 per hour
Here is the exact quote info:
$1,800 (out the door; tax included) to replace:
Timing Belt, Water pump, coolant, spark plugs, Idler pulleys, and Tensioner.
How does that quote sound?
Should I have them replace anything else since its being worked on?
Did they or I forget anything?
Please be as critical and specific as necessary.
After this service, I would think the car should be in good shape the next 6 to 7 yrs....?
Thanks again for your time and concern!

Hmm. Mine is due for that same maintenance (sans spark plugs, just changed those last week) in about 5K miles. When the 90K was done, it was $1,087.09 from the nearest Toyota dealer. That was in 2007, though, so obviously prices have changed (and mine was a '97, so you have VVt-i and some other differences, if that's relevant). You can buy the maintenance kit with all OEM parts in it off eBay for around $300ish, so it's not the parts that are expensive, it's the labor.

i go to kerry at westminster lexus for all my lexus (and toyota) needs! just tell him, or any person behind the counter, that you are from Club Lexus and they will give you a discount similar if not better than Sewell! Sewell is comparable especially if you need parts shipped to you when living in remote areas w/o good parts access. Just be sure to apply the Club Lexus discount as well (search the forum on how to claim it).
to the OP (original poster), i would also replace the serpentine (accessory) belt, but that shouldn't be added to the cost of labor.

That being said, the aisin parts are probably of decent quality, but they aren't OEM.

There has been discussion about this before. I could swear many people have said Asin kit was OEM. I wonder Carson would charge for the same package. Over $400?
-Aisin Water Pump (OEM)
-Koyo Tensioner Bearing (OEM)
-Mitsuboshi Timing Belt (OEM)
