most of the high value classics have limited production numbers and didnt sell very well. old hemi's are a great example of this.

The LS400, while a significant leap for toyota and greatly turning up competition in the Flagship segment, did not have a similar impact.
What about the 60 or 80 series Land Cruiser's/LX450's? There's such a high demand for these trucks (as well as Toyota pickup's 4x4's between 80 and 96) many of which aren't worth the asking price. Prices for these trucks are going up again with low mile examples upward of $10,000 and high mileage Anniversary models around $7-8,000. Not alot I know but who can say the demand for the LS400 won't be the same in the next few years

Not as long as people like me are buying them with the intentions of sliding them around and probably denting the crap out of it.

Can't say i agree with Jeremy Clarkson at all, i find my LS400 quite envigorating. You want a boring car? Try a Chevy Aveo!

What he means is that it is too perfect and has no character.

vintage classic, 80s classic, 90s classic.. Define it by the era classic and LS400 will be in it near the top.

This is hard to predict what is going to become a car that people will desire. The LS has a weak aftermarket following and the JDM variant isn't much different. Stuff to hang on it like body kits and wheels only go so far. Some company or person that can mass manufacture parts that people will want to improve performance helps in keeping these desirable.

The 1UZ is great but most of what we see is custom one-off work and that takes $ to be unique. The 2JZ transplants help but again, this is pretty extensive work.

Some cars that got a second chance or remained favorites in no particular order: Toyota Corolla AE86, Supra, Nissan 240, Honda S2000... Who would have thought that the Cressida would find such life. I liked the MX73 we had and there were interchangeable engine and suspension from the Supra. Not many engine options or goodies available for the UCF.

Ya just have to hold onto your UCF as long as possible...and wait if anything develops for it.
