Motivational comment. And yes i have taken it to a tech, where no one knows about the blown ECU caps that we have, or at least I HAD. Try to reason that with them to only see a recommended ECU replaced if I must. Thanks btw.

Just hang in there, take a deep breath, even though an older LS400 may have some issues, any other car of similar age will have even more, and all of the issues turn out to be logical - the thing I like is that 99% of the issues are labor as opposed to expensive parts, and I love that.

I once had a Porsche and it broke 2nd gear, and no matter how great of a mechanic you were, and how much time you had, they wanted friggin $2500 for the stupid gear, and junkyard gears were all broken as well, so I sold that POS ASAP, I hate cars with expensive parts that cannot be rebuilt or repaired, MacGyver-style, and so far, nothing on my LS400 has been expensive, just time consuming a bit.

And of course i wouldn't do that. This is not my first car and what a car enthusiast would I be if I can't figure out and fix my own car.

As I see those photos you posted up, I worry about the damages caused by the leaked liquid. The first and the last photos are showing the corrosion on the board. The second photo shows C1110 colored dark.

I think you'd better to check those before you try something new. The liquid is very strong alkali and conductive. Did you wipe it off completely? Did you check the conductivity of the patterns? Did you check C1110 still alive?

I did both a sodium bicarbonate wash followed with distilled water and a then vinegar (acetic acid) wash on mine, not being sure of the ph of the leaked electrolyte, then I rinsed with distilled water then with isopropyl alcohol - a couple of my circuit traces were damaged somewhat from the leaking electrolyte, but still conductive and working fine after the repair. - I think if I had waited another month to recheck for leaking caps, the circuit board would have been damaged beyond repair, as the electrolyte is quite corrosive to copper traces.

Third time's a charm right? I finally found a really, really good ECU for $25 and so far, it's been almost a week and the car runs top notch. I assume my ECU was beyond the point of repair. I will changed out the caps too since they will eventually go bad.
