Default cv axle/half shaft question

I guess after my car being lowered the extra strain has caused the cv boots to break. I'm going to go ahead and replace them with new ones, because I'm sure they are the originals.

My question is..... Is there a brand that works better for slammed/ lowered ls4's? The auto part stores have them for about $70 each. I havn't checked OEM, but I'm sure they are more. Would I be ok with just going with the brand that Orielly's or autozone has? Any input would be great!

Ive used advanced shafts on turbo hondas that put out more torque than the 1uze. I guess it just depends on the angle the shaft is at I havent really looked on my ls to see what angle its at.

Those remans have warranties on them so if you break it again you can get it replaced.. Just gotta put the man hours into replacing them. thats all.

I havent heard much about LS bodies breaking axles because of being lowered. So i ASSume you'd be alright.

I hate drive ways I three wheel.. Especially if one of my rear wheels are in the air. End up going no where.

are you talking about replacing the boot itself alone or replacing the whole shaft?

ask for and get A-1 CARDONE , 2 year guaranty is best, sometimes I think their one year guaranty is a used unit with a new boot on it... but dont quote me on that, ask for 2 year.

I am replacing both shafts, not just the boots. I had it on the lift today, and the boot was broken on the driverside and a little on the passenger. I'm pretty sure I heard some clicking coming from the driver side the other day. The driver side has slung grease all over the place, and the passenger side has just started to do the same.

I'm not scared of some labor/man hours to save some money. I might just end up getting a reman with a warranty.

Lowering your car didn't cause the boot to break, though if it was already cracked it probably made it more evident.

The range of motion on a lowered car on vehicle specific coilovers is not that much different from stock (in the rear) so unless you were running a ridiculous amount of camber using an aftermarket camber arm I don't see it being a problem.

PD - I'm sure it didn't "cause" the problem, but like you said made it worse. I do know that when I put the coilovers in last week, there was zero grease coming out of the boots. A week later, grease slung everywhere. I'm not really worried about it, just glad I saw it now and not a month from now. I'll throw some new axles in it and all will be good.
