hopefully they didn't tow it incorrectly, if they towed it on the real wheels, they have ruined the transmission (from lack of lubrication - negligence), and you have a lawsuit.

do a test, put car in park, and rock car with a buddy like you are trying to push it and see if park is holding

if park does not hold car, then tranny is very likely fine and problem is further back towards rear of car (drivehaft, differential, CV joints etc.) and the problem is still likely improper towing

Well my guess is torque converter to front pump relationship is damaged and no fluid is moving, loosen a cooler line by the radiator and see if you have pressure..

Just jack the car up in the back and take both tires off to inspect the differentail and all the other components. Get someone to start the car and put it in drive and gently tap the gas pedal. Make sure to put wheel chocks on front of the front tires first.

Well so far, I order one vehicle speed sensor from Napa. At the time didn't know that there were two on the transmission. I replaced the vehicle speed sensor on the back left of the transmission. Let the error code clear and fired up the car. Tried it again. and same story as before. No power the the wheels, maybe a slight bit more engagement while shifting in reverse and drive. not much though. So wondering if i should replace the other speed sensor.

LsCowboyLs,

I did the test you advised. Put the car in park and tried to move it by pushing. I could rock it a little but couldn't move it any good distance.

UPDATE:

I replaced the front left vehicle speed sensor located on transmission. by left I mean driver's side. Let codes clear and started again. Same problem as before. For the rear speed sensor, I reused the original on that was in it.

Is there a test to see if the torque converter is bad? Can I look at the flywheel from underneath to tell anything? As in remove the metal shield on the fly wheel to see if it is moving? Or will that not really tell me anything?

can you please check the transmission fluid with vehicle cranked at idle and and then with vehicle off?

if these levels are not very different, then you have a pump or pickup issue

I have seen a rare condition of some non-Toyota filters coming loose and falling into the pan, preventing fluid pickup, this would not explain the speed sensor error, however it would result in you not going anywhere.

Not to be a smart **** Pj, but you need to get your car to a mechanic or transmission shop to have them look at it for you. That way you can find out forsure whether you have a major or minor problem.

PJ, the problem sounds mechanical in nature. the sensor is only telling you the output shaft isn't turning. If the transmission fluid is to proper level, then the trans needs to be checked by a pro. Does the fluid smell burned? is it brown instead of pink? Pull the pan off the trans, look for metal shavings. A thin coating is usually normal. Is there any other stuff laying in there? I think odds are the trans and converter are toast. hope this helps.

please only do this as a LAST resort, unless you feel that there is a lawsuit in the making, because transmission shops in USA are notoriously crooked, and if the repair is out of your own pocket, the last thing you want is the crooked negligent goons at a transmission shop touching your Aisin!

billydpowe,

No I haven't done the test that you mentioned. So I just loosen the cooler line and see if it sprays out? I need to do some research before I do that I guess.
