Default Replacing Parking Brake Shoes

Evening all,

I'm a new owner in need!

I need to change the parking/emergency/hand brake shoes - does anyone know of a tutorial?

Thanks

i too am curious but have not seen much coverage on the subject. i'm at 150k miles on the original shoes and they seem to work properly. it's possible the previous owners never even used it at all.

Parking shoes barely ever wear. They are used when the car is parked so there isnt a lot of friction going on. I would assume they are the same as every other drum and that removal is fairly straight foward. Pull the rotors off and take a look.

Yea, are you sure you need new shoes? It only engages when the ebrake is applied. Maybe you can adjust it but i don't think you'll need to replace it unless you're 200k + in mileage and the ebrake is always adjusted firm or applied most of the time when driving. Then again you would also know that the ebrake is applied and hinder MPG.
