this reply is to lex400. by your reasoning there would be no way toyota or infiniti or acura could possibly build as good, much less a better car than general motors. how could they compete with that extra hundred years of engineering experience? and by your reasoning, how in the world could gm have ever competed with studebaker, which has been building transportation vehicles since the mid 1800's?

how did those pesky americans ever beat the british, who had all the history and experience on their side?

the most common complaint i've heard from owners and mechanics is that the benz sis ridiculously over-engineered. that is one of the reasons they are so expensive to repair. my old partner had a new benz and was so tickled when the $500-$1000 per month in repair bills was all covered by warranty, and he got such a nice free loaner car. then the warranty ran out and he still had just as many bills, and no loaner. he dumped his benz, went with acura, and would not think of buying another benz.

 

Just got rid of my 2001 and traded straight across for a 96 SC 400. Goodbye Germany, hello Japan. I could not be happier. If you own a Benz, you'd better have a full warranty, you WILL need it. Mechanically, the car was okay but electrically it was a nightmare. My buddy had a 2000 S500 and he went through the same nightmare. I will never own another Benz.

i dunno about you but id take a toyota over a dodge ANYDAY!!!

Since Chrysler bought out Daimler-Benz quality went down the toilet, the ONLY one i would even consider owning would be an SL65 AMG as a playtoy, and thats only because its got over 600hp and 700ft lbs. of tq. stock. it'll still break down all the time though.

Many friends of mine have MB's (E's and S's) and while they go into the shop time after time my LS runs each and every day. The LS is the most reliable car in the world as rated by Consumer Reports - While it is definitely not the most performance oriented sedan, I will take the reliability, save the money on service related issues and add the performace mods of my choosing. I'd rather have a one off LS than an upscale Dodge any day.

 

To reply to a MB post just shows that their are to many Morons are still on this forum, anyone that knows anything about
Automobiles knows the that MB has Major problems. It is easy to find on their forums. Look you ReTards this is not a MB vs LEX forum MB peple are truly the stupidiest people on the planet. Don't take word for it just Goggle MB forums and check it out yourself.
