car stalled after slamming on the brakes
95 ls400
I had to slam in the brakes yesterday. the oil light came on and the car died. I know with 100% certainty that I have the correct amount of oil. I retarted the car and havent had another issue.
Any chance the quick stop took the away from a sensor and the car shut itself off?

This has happened to my on my 95 as well, but only once. I chalked it up to the rapid deceleration and the trans not reacting fast enough. I'd be interested to see if this has happened to others and if there is a fix or not.

I've had similar experiences maybe five times in 23 years / 310,000 miles of driving LS400's. Each time it was due to a failing battery - corroded/cracked links between battery cells momentarily disconnecting and reconnecting.

Isn't that the common problem among 95 models. Aged 95 models prone to stall after the high speed run then braked.
As far as I know, a badly clogged throttle body and air lines to the injectors cause the problem. But it is not very easy to clean the air lines to the injector completely and the alternative countermeasure is to reprogram the ECU not to go too low engine rpm or to change the ECU which has a newer program.

I did throttle body recently so I doubt it was that.
And it didnt stall after a long highway run and coming to a stop.
its was a short 45 mph run and slamming to a stop.

Mine as well. The car will do the stated stalling problem after a long drive. My situation of it stalling after hitting the brakes was just a short trip to the corner store, someone pulled out in front of me so I had to react.

I chalked the oil light coming on up to the car stalling and the key being in the acc position.
And I slammed on the brakes again to test it, car sputtered and rpms dropped to 200 momentarily but didnt die.
throttle bodys been done recently, So I guess its lines to the injectors. fun stuff.

Had a similar situation just now. Came to a gentle rolling stop and car had died. Gas at over 1/2 tank, temp was 68F. We, just come off a steep decline but had driven about 1/8 mile before the stop sign. Car stared up fine, no warning lights showing....
Battery posts are clean cables appear fine. ECU fix done, vacuum lines are fresh and attached from what I can see on the top side. Newish battery, about 3 months old.
Thoughts?
Update
Couldn't see it last night but there was a modest patch of deposits on the backside of the positive post. May not have been a lot but could certainly contribute to an iffy connection.

My LS did this once when I first got it. It had both some acid buildup on the battery posts and a very dirty air filter. I cleaned up the posts and replaced the filter and never had it happen again. So my recommendation is to check your air filter too.
