I have a button underneath the drivers dash right in the middle torwards the back. It is a press in press out style button. Sorry i dont know the technical term for it. Anyway it appears to be factory but i have no idea what it is for. Anyone have one similar to this? 1996 Lexus LS 400

It's an adjustment for the keyless entry "beep" - either turns it on/off or adjusts the volume. Never messed with mine so I'll leave the experimenting to you.

in '93-94's it's a **** to change alarm beep volume.
in '95-00's it's a button to turn the beep on or off.

The button was added for the 1993 model year. The 90-92 LS400 didn't beep or flash the exterior lights when the car was locked with the remote.

thanks guys.. I called the Lexus dealer and they said it wasnt factory.... haha. Mine turns the alarm on/off.

A week or so ago I installed a new radio in my '97 and I must have turned my "beep" off accidently!

Found the tiny hidden button and restored the beep function.
