20 years of carbon build up
So I spent several hours disassembling and cleaning my throttle body, replacing Pcv valve & grommet and the drive belt.
The carbon build up was nasty. the 2 coolant hoses on the underside of the throttle body were a real pain in the a**. But I got her done. the big coolant hose split on one end, so I'm keeping an eye on it. Didn't show any leakage after my drive.
I gotta say my idling seems to have improved dramatically.
After 20 years almost everything plastic becomes brittle and very stiff.
The Pcv valve grommet was intense lol getting it out of the hole trying not to drop it in.
Drive belt was easy. Would be nice if the fan wasn't so big and bulky.
What would an electric fan cost me?
Another thing, after the new drive belt is in it sounds like a continuous clicking coming from the engine or under the engine. Not too worried about it. Just thought I would ask.

The first thing I did when I got my 93 LS was take that fan off and put electric fans on. I had some fans from another project, and just made some little brakets for them. I'm running two 12inch (I think) fans. I went to the auto parts store (Orielly's) and for about $20 bought a relay kit with a temp sensor that goes into the rad. I've had it on the car for awhile now, and it's been working great. Both fans come on, and when they are off the car is very quiet. Great upgrade IMO. You can get a set of fans pretty cheap if you shop around. I'd say you could switch it over for around $100-$140 or so.

I'd really like to do this mod.
Is it possible you could post a picture of your setup?
That would help a lot.
I would also appreciate a little description of what you did with the electrical especially.
