For me it worked without any programming involvement. Eventually I will take apart the telescoping motor and attempt repair.
I have a question, Hobycat. Have you succeeded to fix the telescopic motor?
As I read your other posts, I could easily find that you are a guy who is quite skilled. I'd like to know what you found trying to repair the motor.

Default Must be impossible

It seems no one has successfully ventured down the path to fix the 99-2000 steering column motor issue. Probably because Lexus changed from common brush-style motors to fancy brushless PCM driven electronically controlled units. Much more difficult for mere mortals, like us, to troubleshoot. Can't just supply 12v. to them to see if they work, because that's not what they need. Therefore, nobody can say whether these issues are mechanical (binding), electronic ( ie. motor ecu), or power supply issues. AFIK, Billy is the only one who paid the Big $$$ to have new motors installed in his/wifes '99 a few years back, but since then, they too, have again failed. I can't think of any other (widely-experienced) problem in our cars, that has evaded a reasonable DIY solution for all these years. Yep, my 99 has it too.

yup. ultrasonic motors came in around 98. sealed and cant get in them. you get a dead quiet tilt away but sacrifice being able to repair yourself. i have a 2000 now so i know that will be coming down the pipe soon. hope someone comes up with a DIY for it too!!
