trunk stuck closed
So when i bought my LS i was only given the valet key(thats all they had) so i can lock and unlock the car and also start it but i cant access the trunk or lock the glove box. Button inside the car seems to work as i can hear the latch click but still wont open.

Is the lock plunger next to the trunk release pushed in? If it is, that won't let you open the truck. If it's out, have someone push down on the trunk as you pull the button/lever and see if it opens then.

go to the dealership and prove ownership (title etc.) and have them make you a new master key - new technology allows them to do this, it was much more of a pain when the car was new. Call the dealership first, as not all of them are equipped for this. If they cannot make it on site, then have them order it. And it won't be cheap, but it's worth it in convenience I would say.

What year of LS400 do you have? It probably shouldn't be too pricey so long as its a first or early second gen without the transponder.
I was going to suggest taking out the backseat to gain access, but I realized that LS400s have the gas tank between the seat and the trunk, or at least 95 and up models do.... not sure about the 94 and down.....

funny... mine has the exact opposite problem. It will not latch.. I wonder if there is a problem with the popper/catch mechanism that is causing our troubles... I am going to look into it and I will update what I find.

Electronic trunk latch no valet key 1991 ls400/celsior
if you remove the lower part of the dash underneath the steering wheel (careful not to Mia the bolt behind the removable coin trey) you can unplug the connector that leads from the key battle (I think it’s red and green) and replace it with a spade connector that brindles the two contacts then your trunk button will work
