All the more reason to get the 4 channel amp and placing it in the factory location.

For future reference just ignore all "peak" power numbers. Additionally ignore the cumulative power rating. i.e. 1000w = 250x4. Just call it a 250x4 not a 1000w amp.

I'm not sure your math is right on the 2ohm vs 4ohm sub amp.

Ah, alright, I'll keep that in mind. As for the 2 ohm/4 ohm thing, I'm just reading the ratings for it off of the site. For some reason, it didn't hyperlink properly in the previous post.
My upgrades in a nutshell:

Only a month into it & I wanna change my set up. A 8" PPI under OEM location in a sealed box hanging below the deck lid is just not cutting it. Anything under mid volume is fine but above that it resonates/buzzes ridiculously especially songs with punchy bass lines. The speaker grill moves some & the cloth also flaps around like crazy. Some tracks I cant even listen to loud (hip hop primarily). Gain is set on minimum from my 300w JL amp which has so much more potential...

...So I ordered a JL 10w3, I need to make it work. I also want trunk space & access to a spare. Ideally I want to hang another box from the deck lid so I can have all my floor space. I know its a structural component but is it worth taking another risk with the possibility of more vibration with added weight of new goods ?? Im primarily after a custom fitted box & no fibreglass. It seems few LS's have custom boxes so Im running short on ideas. Thx.

My plan, however far down the line i get to it, was to box out the trunk similar but different to the pic Scope posted:

run dual 10s on the sides above the pockets, amps and air manifold recessed into and across a floating false wall infront of the tank, hang my air from the deck lid and mount the pumps into the little pockets beneath the subs. That way I could still keep a spare tire in off chance I needed it while maximizing trunk space and keeping a semi stock look! "Just another stock LS" has been said a few times around here and I sort of want to keep that idea going throughout the car with the odd deviation for creature comfort and style.

A lot of the trunk setups I have seen over the years are always a poor use of space and are organized in a way that is better suited to show off everything rather than contain everything. Granted most people attempt to show their cars so that only makes sense...

Perhaps do what I'm doing - I'll just be buying two enclosures (or in your case, one and I chose sealed for punchy/accurate bass which seems to be what you're looking for as well) and then having an MDF "dress up panel" made and carpeted so it would look flush (but it's basically an enclosure box with an extra panel lol) and just tuck that into one of the side pockets (since it's not exactly the best idea to place the subwoofers directly against the back wall of the trunk due to the gas tank, or so I've heard). Then, mount the amplifier wherever suits your needs. In my case, I'm going center mounted in the trunk.

I was thinking that may be the best solution. I wanna relocate the integrated tool box & place the box with flush panel on the passenger side corner pocket to offset some driver weight. It's likely to intrude into the trunk opening a few inches. I'll just keep looking at it for ideas.

Haven't seen fiberglass in the LS.....

I don't like the idea of fiberglass in these luxury cruisers as it would mostly look out of place unless it's seriously tied in decor-wise which would = big $ and a taste for such things.

You can use fiberglass for the shell of the box and top it with MDF board but I also thing a big fiberglass enclosure would not suit these cars at all.

One user here played with fiberglass (I can't think of his name at present). It can be pulled off, as long as you don't go too overboard.

that looks pretty sweet, I would be happy to just use up the space on the side of the trunk.
