So I really want either an ls400 or an es300. I like the ls400 more because its a v8 and rwd obviously.
About the car : 1993
155k
Lowered on springs
New struts
New braks
New timing belt
New water pump
Newer plugs n wires
New starter
New clear bumper lenses
All Windows tinted, even windshield
Heat and AC work
Heated seats
New kenwood speakers all around and deck
The only thing is he has no records for the t belt change or any of the other things. He said his mech looked at the car when he bought it and the t belt and alternator were new.
The other problem is the car has rust on the bottom. Its not on the frame but its on the jacking point area.
Is this a good buy for $3600 or should I stay away.

This guy has too many cars ( about 5) and needs to sell one. I went to the dealer ship 1 owner 95 ls400 with 161k and all records for $3900. Took a drive everything was amazing until all of a sudden they added some BS like nitrogen filled tires and such and I was at $4700. Walked out right away I cant afford a car more than 4k.

I would walk away from that one. It had a good amount of work done but you dont know exactly how long ago it was done. The price is too high for that, go 95+. There's alot of hidden rust under there. If there's that much rust just think what all the rubber bushings look like.
Why is the exhaust not hooked up, it looks like the pipe rusted off?

A small amount of surface rust is common on the jacking points, because people bust them up with incorrect service procedures and damage the paint/undercoating on them.
If you are looking at getting an older model Lexus and doing work on it yourself, i would stay away from the ES300s, because they are a COMPLETE pain in the a** to do work on.

Price is high. If you like it and its looks to be well maintained, throw him a low ball offer. Personally, I wouldnt pay no more than 3k for it. BUT, one good thing to consider is it only has 155k and its 20 years old! Thats less than 8k a year, averge. I also agree with the other guys about keeping an eye out for 95 or better.

I just recently bought my 96 for under 3K. Has 175K, thought, but has dealer service records until 2007 when it had 107K miles.
So yeah, even with supposedly having all those things replaced, the price is definitely a bit high for a 93. And since he doesn't even have any receipts for any of the parts that have been replaced, I'd be a bit suspicious, for sure.
Market might be different in your area, of course, but I wouldn't pay much over $2000 for it. And having owned both a 94 and now a 96, I would definitely recommend getting a 95+. Nothing against the older ones, just a personal preference now that I have had both.
