Replacing Radio Preset Bulbs-A Project?
Looks like i'm in the dark on the 5&6 radio preset buttons-i assume a single bulb burnout is the root of the problem.Question is how difficult is it to replace? Any guidance would be appreciated! TIA to all!

give it a try!!!
all the console lights work in my 1996 LS, but i was seriously thinking about changing the color to match the whiteness, and brightness of the mian cluster of guages(tach, temp, gas...).
i only hesitate cuz if it aint broke......
but as i said i have thought about it and if you were to attemp it ther would be 3 hurdles to clear:
1.disassembling the radio without breaking it
2. soldering a teeny-tiny bulb to some short little wires(or to a circut board)
3. matching the original color and brightness of the burnt out presets
if you can accomplish the first step you should be able to tell fairly easily if the other two are possible.
please let me know what you decide!!

Oh My...
Disassemble,solder-i'm in over my head now! LOL! I thought pull the unit out pop in some new bulbs all the way around and drive on for many years.Sounds like a project i'm not really motivated to start. What would you think a more qualified person would charge for this procedure? Thanks!

Its not really that hard. I have taken apart my console at least ten times or more doing audio and electronic stuff to it.
Plus on some of the bulbs on the radio it is just covered by a green colored cap. You can take that off and now the color of the bulb will be white.

i wish it was so simple
i agree taking apart the dash and console is no problem, but taking apart the radio unit itself is a different story. it is not designed to taken apart.
i also agree that some of the lights are easy to get at and then swap, however, i am not even sure that the lights behind the radio buttons are even bulbs. the buttons maybe lighted by SMD's(the type of LED in cell phones). also if i just take off that little cover the light will be more yellow than white, that is why the cover is blue in a lot of cars.( blue +yellow = green)

Thanks All!
So is it as easy as popping out the expired bulb and installing a new one? or does soldering come into play? It sounds like a 100.00 job to get this light functioning if i forgo the do-it-yourself route and let more skilled folk tackle the problem.Am i out of line here?
