Rear seat removal

Rear seat removal
I need to remove the rear seat on my 93 LS400 to remove the struts and change the springs but cannot get the base out. According to the posts I have read there should be 2 tabs which are pulled to release the seat but I can't find these on mine. I've had a really good look and felt all along the slight gap between the floor and seat base but can't feel anything like a tab. Anyone have any ideas as I am struggling. The car is standard - no power rear seat - and doesn't look to have been messed with.

They are there - at least on a 1991 - but they are quite small and do not protrude on as a handle or something like that. If you run your fingers between the floor and seat bottom edge you should find them.

The tabs may have been deleted beginning with the 1993 LS400. My 1990 had the two release tabs but the 2000 I have now doesn't have them. The tabs were a problem in that they could cut people's legs if their rubber caps came off.
On my 2000 I have to force my fingertips under the lower front edge of the seat cushion and pull up sharply. The first time I removed the seats in 2003 I had to use a steel "flat bar" to pry up the seat cushion - probably had never been removed before. The rear seat cushion was a lot easier to remove after that.
