Anyone Tinted The Windows Onls 430 Ultra
GENTLEMAN;
I desire to tint the side and rear windows of my 03 LS 430 ULTRA LUX. The problem is the owners manual states to consult with your service manager. I did this and he said to make sure the tinting material does not have any metal content. Reason being the metallic content will short/impair reception of radio/LexusLink/GPS and whatever else is on the rear window glass.
Has anyone had any experience with the rear window diminishing peformance of any of the receptors installed in this car?
Your contributions are appreciated.
Ron

LS 430 ULTRA WINDOW TINT
GS;
Checked the GS forum, but no one answered my question. I intend to get the smoke/black(NON-reflective) window tint. However I was told that the smoke/black tint does have a metallic content and when applied on the rear window it will short/impair reception of radio/LexusLink/GPS.
QUESTION: Has anyone had any experience with window tint on LS 430 ULTRA?
Thanks in advance.

Ron,
I have a 2003 ls430 and am considering tinting windows. I recently had a Mercedes that I tinted the rear window. With the automatic dimming on the rear view mirror, it was almost impossible to see out the rear window at night. I don't know if it would be a problem on the LS430, but I am sure going to find out before I do it.

I have a 03' LS430 and just had the windows tinted. My dealer contracted out the window tint company. It was a bit more expensive, but they did it right.
I used a 35% smoke tint. I noticed that on the rear window, the installer avoided the wires on the window completely. He actually cut the tint peices to fit all of the space between each wire. Since getting the tint donee, I have had no change in GPS, radio reception, or Lexus Link reception.
Just keep away from the metallic tints!
