what can I get for my 95 LS400
Winter is winding down (I wish, but I love to convince myself it is). I bought the ls since I know them to be such great vehicles. I had full intention to sell after winter since that was all I was using it for.
I have 143k miles. Timing belt done at 108k (I will need to double check) but it was several years ago.
I am the second owner (only since October 2013).
The car doesn't look great inside or out, not a cream puff.
Body is fair and so is the interior
The engine compartment is very clean.
Mostly everything works and no dash lights.
My radio backlight doesn't work but the radio does.
White/ beige interior
Tires fair
Have all (or mostly all) maintenance records and plenty of things have been taken care of.
I have intentions of driving my other car through the summer and then in the fall getting the ats coupe. I think I will be happier with that, but I truly have loved owning this LS.
What's it worth, I was hoping around 3k but I am not sure of that.
I have considered also donating and using the benefits for 2014 taxes? Anyone think this is a good idea?

if this car is reliable, why not just put a cheap pleasure tag on it, liability only insurance, and use it for when your main car has an issue? - or to keep your main car out of the salt roads this winter and next?

Why would you want to buy a car that has one of the highest instantaneous and long term depreciation rates of any brand on the road, are not well built nor reliable and is a generally soulless car.
Look at a new(er) Lexus, or something else that you can enjoy for a lot longer than 2 years or before the eventual shi*t-kicking on your wallet begins.
All that said, what did you pay for the car?
I'd say $2500-3500 is about fair for your car... But it depends on what someone is actually going to give you and how thorough they are with their pre-purchase inspection. It still needs work, all of these cars do. So if the buyer is shrewd, he/she could probably find $1-2k worth of required repairs to get you down to $1500... I know I could and do with just about every car i buy or inspect for customers.
