Default What is a fair price for a 1999 LS400?

Hi, I am thinking of selling my 1999 LS 400. It is in very good shape with 155K miles on it. Dealer only offered $3500 but I didn't know if this was a good deal so I passed. Any feedback, ClubLexus? Thanks!

I bought a 1998 with 194,000 that was very clean and had 18" chrome rims from a 2008 GS for $5500. Don't even bother selling to a dealer there are plenty of private buyers that would happily give you a lot more for it.

you can get close to double that to the right buyer, if all the maintenance is up to date (e.g. timing belt, water pump), and the car is in pristine shape.

dealerships should always be your last choice since they offer the least amount of money. ever try carmax for an appraisal? there is no pressure to sell to them, and their offer is good for 7 days. usually they beat dealership prices but nothing beats a private buyer!

It is in really good shape, dealer-maintained and garage-kept.

I am tempted to keep it as my backup car, because it has been an awesome vehicle, and it's still fun to drive. Nothing is as quiet as that old LS--nothing. The problem is that we have three drivers in the house, and now four cars. Hard to justify paying the extra insurance and geez, where to store it! Guess I could hang onto it for a few years a let it be a "classic." Everything on the car is original so that is a possibility, I guess.

Hmmm, I am on my mobile and the pic is upside down. Better check that on my computer. LSCowboy, the interior is not perfect but it isn't stained or anything like that... Just a bit worn. I was thinking about $5500 but didn't know if that was realistic?

Ha! Stupid iPad uploaded the pics upside down. They showed up as right-side up on that device but now rotated. Just fixed them AGAIN!
