I want to tow a pop up camper???
I own a 2000* LS400 and I am considering buying a Popup Camper which weighs 2600 lbs. I understand that the towing capacity of LS400 is around 2000 lbs. However, I live in Florida where the largest hill that I face is my driveway.
Does that make a difference? Is this something that is doable or is it something that I should not consider?

class II hitch is rated for 3500lbs.
Ive hauled over 2600lbs with my 99. But I have stiff coilovers so it didnt sag and it was smooth riding. If the trailer has assisted braking it helps stopping.

I believe I read in another thread tow rating without trans cooler is 3000 and with cooler is 4000, mostly you want that tongue weight to be fairly low unless you have air suspension which will level it out nicely!

I've towed trailers with both the 90 LS400 I had and the 00 LS400 I have now. I'd say stay well under 2,000 lbs. unless you have a transmission cooler. Have you towed anything this big before? It's quite a lot of weight.
Something to think about is that you would likely add a lot of your own stuff to that 2,600 lbs.
There are far lighter pop-up campers than 2,600 pounds. Maybe look for one that weights around 1,500 lbs.
