Default Remote Start on 98-00 LS400

Anyone have a remote start? If so, has been a headache or pretty easy on the install?

Did they need a "special module"

Any models to look at or not deal with?

I've owned prestige alarm remote starts on all my vehicles, so if I'm able to continue with that brand, I'd like to keep it prestige.

I have a remote start on my ls400, and it was a bit more than a regular install due to the immobilizer on the car. Yeah they did need to do something "special" to get it running, but it's more of an unnecessary feature imo. When it's used the steering wheel doesn't tilt down so it's not really hop in and go it's more hop in adjust wheel remove parking brake, don't press foot brake, insert key, D"oh pressed foot brake.

and it often cuts on and off which i'm 100% sure is terrible for my starter.

If you plan on sticking to prestige I would recommend looking into if there is an immobilizer bypass that works with their alarms. I know theres one for DEI products. (viper, ungo, etc..)

I installed one in my 2000 a little over a month ago. So far I love it.

I got a viper 2 way kind.

The hardest part was dealing with the immobilizer. I thought it was on the key cylinder but it's off to the side and I had to remove the radio to get to it.

Or you can leave a key in your dash. I didn't feel like doing that.

Took me a bit to figure out all the programing.

Cool... However, did that mess with the electric system, memory settings, etc. once they installed it or does everything still work the same?

Also, when you remote start your vehicle, does the radio come on also and steering wheel adjust (I don't like that)? Does the heated seats automatically come on?

Essentially, I just want the remote start, don't want the 2-way because all of my prestige alarm/remote starts have had plenty of range, so seeing that I already have factory keyless entry and an immobilizer, don't need the extra... Which brings me to my next questions, because many people have stated that an immobilizer bypass is needed, does an aftermarket remote start/keyless entry/alarm automatically negate the engine immobilizer in case of theft? I wouldn't want to lose that feature just because of a remote start!
