Stereorob.
Did you weigh in on that air suspension 1992 LS I am currently considering so I can have a Nakamachi CD system once more?

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...razy-swap.html

I miss my Nakamichi and I can re-foam all speaker suspensions as necessary.
Question is, can I repair air bags. I got a tire patch kit ? ! ?

NOTHING.

as far as the sound system goes, truth be told BT audio although nice, still doesn't sound as good as a CD. were close but still not quite there yet. i wonder if im the only one here that still has the 6-disc changer in use basically all the time...
I still use the 6 disc CD changer in mine. Still works perfectly.

Well CD is lossless audio vs. compressed (256k 320k) for most digital formats. So on a good enough system and a good enough ear you can certainly tell.

Sure FLAC and the like exist, but that is very much in the minority.

bluetooth audio is absolutley starting to catch up, but still not at CD quality.

Yes it is indeed. For me, the convenience is worth the tradeoff in automotive applications.

Default Ha! It's 2024 and I've got a 96 and a 00 in my driveway as we speak!

Non abused examples of these cars are already a rarity and more than 70% on the road have well over 200k miles as it is. When these cars are well kept they are beautiful, but when they are not they look really, REALLY bad. A lot of them have already achieved Hooptie status just by default due to age but are still hanging on. I still pass a Ls400 in traffic every day but there numbers are dwindling as much as I don't like to see it. Also, other things like the insanely hard to change starter, and the interference engine in the 97+ models will cause a early death to many! simply due to neglect. I see a mass die off of 400s over the next 5 years as they hit 30 years old and that sucks, but the real question is, how many ls400s will still be chugging along at 30 years old with 500k+ miles on them? Will they ever be collector cars? Do you still see a Ls400 in your driveway in 2020? I do.
My 1996 has 309,500k miles and the 2000 has 270,000 miles. It's 2024 and I have two old, high millage ls400s in my driveway. Imo it's a timeless design and would look AMAZING any year, time or season.

^ Agree with that. By the way, prices on the used car market here in WA are creeping up for LS400s in good condition. I am starting to see $ 10-15 K pretty common now.
I have a '98 with 154K and a 2005 LS430 with 143K miles in my garage, and actually like driving the '98 more. I can't explain it. But the age of the '98, the fact it looks so damn good from every angle, is a plus for me at least. Both cars really come into their own at speed - 70+ but I rarely have the opportunity to drive that fast where I live due to speed limits and too many large wild animals just itching to jump out in front of the car.

i think the performance and drive of the 1998 is more impressive when factoring in the age context, by 2006 the LS had gotten literally 0% faster since the UZ had its big overhaul in the end of 1997

and i agree the 400 has those low sleek classy lines whereas the 430 is kind of tall and awkward at times (the facelift in 2004 is a nice improvement at least)
