the LS doesn't share a chassis with the Celsior. it is the celsior.

During the LS 400's development, local dealers' requests for a Japanese domestic market version had grown,[9] and a right-hand-drive Toyota Celsior-badged version was introduced shortly after the LS 400's U.S. debut, and introduced October 9, 1989 and only available at Toyopet Store locations.[34] The Celsior, named after the Latin word for "supreme", was largely identical to the LS.[34] Models came in either basic "A", upgraded suspension "B", or fully equipped "C" trim specifications.[35]

and the source for those are:

Morohoshi, Youiti (2004). "Lexus LS 400/Celsior Guide" (in Japanese). Proto Corporation. Retrieved 2010-04-19.

you're missing my point, it's not that they "share' the same body. they are the same car. it's a direct rebadge. the entire shell/suspension/engine/trans is identical, with only regional provisions changed for emissions, RHD/LHD, and trim options differentiating them. Same Chassis codes (UCFxx) as they're the same car.

mkiv supra - JZA80 chassis code
3rd gen Soarer - xxZ30/31
1st gen SC - xxZ30 (soarer rebadge, note same chassis code)

1st gen LS - UCF1x
1st gen Celsior - UCF1x

OH! I thought you were saying the celsior isnt the ls that the celsior was just a celsior. I totally misread that. I was going to be amazed that they were not the same car lol

Figured I'd share my post here too..

GS300 shares quite a bit with the MK4 NA and SC300... but the front suspension is different and similar to the 2nd gen gs300.. rear subframe/swaybar, motor, trans, rear shocks/rear upper control arms, brakes front and rear. I would say the mk4 was designed off of the SC300/GS300 car, as the aristo in japan (gs300) came with the 2jzgte in 1991 and came out in the US as a GS300 with a 2jzge in 1993. Pre production mk4 was 1992 with a release of 1993 (or 1993.5). It's also kind of an upgrade to the soarer with a 2.5l twin turbo and an upgrade over the aristo which was the four door performance luxury sedan, It only makes sense to design a variation of these two models with something more to compete with the corvettes and mustangs in the USA (which the soarer and aristo never was sold in..)

When you boil it all away, the engineers will have adapted the technology to carry over in other models. So in theory, yes the chassis will have similarities. HOWEVER this does not translate that one can put parts from one model into another. Sometimes it works and often these days, it doesn't. I laugh...some of these parts can be -modified- to fit. That still does not translate into chassis X = chassis Y cross compatibility.

The Aussie guys down under have made some wonderful finds in updating many old school Toyota's with modern parts from succeeding or even older models.

Caution: let's not have a cross forum flame debate. Those are Toyota nuts just like us and if they have found ways to mod the cars using parts from other models... at their creativeness..
