Need brakes! 1999 ls400
Any of you guys recommend which brakes I should get for my LS? I just purchased this LS and it needs brake work on all four. Car has 56k miles on it!
Also, I looked at maintenance schedule but the vehicle runs just fine, should I be worried about staying the course with the maintenance schedule? It has been dealer serviced all it's life except for the prior 2-3 years due to the vehicle barely being driven and being garaged.

Akebono ceramic pads and centric rotors, hands down best combo to keep it quiet, minimal dust and still great bite and brake feel.
There are a few things you might want to replace due to age rather than mileage. The serpentine belt, timing belt and water pump should be changed. After that, you can definitely follow the factory service schedule from there out.

Drifter, hows the longevity of those? Do they have good initial bite? I find my oem pads and rotors have good stopping power they dont BITE the way hawk pads on my stang do. Like in the mustang I can give the pedal a quick jab and lock the seatbelts, while in lexus i really have to put my foot into it to get the same effect. also what about the dust? Noise?

Oem pads and resurface rotor you will not regret it. Stick with oem, Lexus has spent a lot of R&D on these. It is also the cheapest route for you and the best option in my very humble opinion.

lexus spent alot of R&D for something that is quiet, low dust, long life and performs adequately for this car.
There are always better options available in the aftermarket at a sacrifice of price, comfort, quality.
I dont mind paying more for something thats great. I have oem brakes, theyre ok. Work as intended, but they dont have that aggressive BITE im looking for. Pads make a huge difference, going from stock replacement pad to a hawk semi metallic pad on my foxbody made a great effect on the brakes initial grabbyness and bite. Something that is lacking with my oem pads on the lex.
